The Wood Craft Centre

Welcome to our Wood Craft Centre!

At Better Pathways we have a fantastic wood workshop which is all about reusing and recycling wood to create wonderful new products.

How its done:

We re-use reclaimed timber which is kindlly donated to us by local factories around the Birmingham area to create furniture, garden pieces and bespoke items.

Highly skilled Craftsman, Byran who runs workshop has been here for 12 years. He enjoys teaching people skills in wood craft and creating bespoke pieces for customers, “We get all sorts of reclaimed timber from large pieces, cut offs and even wooden palettes which we then use to transform into other great products. The best thing about this is that all the materials are donated to us. Nothing goes to waste we use everything given to us. By resuing and recycle everything we are helping the environment whilst providing a wonderful service.”

Recycling of the wood plays an important role in the Wood Craft Centre.

The offcuts and wood shavings which are left over get bagged up for wood/fire burning!

Items we make:

  • Wheelbarrows

  • Birdhouses/bird boxes

  • Benches

  • Shelving units

  • Mirror frames

  • Toy boxes

  • Personalised giftware

  • Photoframes

We have worked on many bespoke projects, one of theses included a memorial bench which was created for a customer with their personal requirements.

If you have a bespoke product idea in mind please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are happy to work with you and discuss your project brief. We work on a commission basis-you give us a set brief of what you would like and we will get our creative caps on and make it!

We also carry out repair jobs products which need fixing.

Social Impact:

The wood craft centre bring social impact to the lives of local people from within the mental health community.

This gives them a place to learn new skills, develop ways in working with wood craft and provides a friendly positive environment for them to socialize which is good for their wellbeing.

Byrans thoughts on the volunteers who attend workshops here, “I find it very rewarding teaching people new skills and seeing them deveolop over time. Giving these people something to do makes a great change in wellbeing of their lives. Not only this but it allows them to socialize and meet with other people in a welcoming environment.’
